Therapy for Younger Children

At Worcester Therapy Group we are proud to have a team of trained professionals who specialise in supporting children with their problems. The therapist assigned will usually meet with the family to assess the nature of the problem, as well as support them through the process. If a child is in care, we work alongside the main carers or social workers.

Evidence shows that there are a range of interventions that can be helpful for various presenting issues, whether they are behavioural, emotional, social or developmental difficulties. We can also provide support for specific learning difficulties, as well as children on the autistic spectrum.

Our aim is not just to aid the child with their immediate problem but also help them become more equipped for future life, either socially, their self-confidence, together with improved relationships at home. Typical issues might include:

  • Anxiety or depression
  • Phobias
  • Behavioural problems
  • Anger management
  • Bullying
  • Low self-esteem
  • Eating problems
  • Difficulty sleeping
  • Toileting problems
  • Self-harm
  • Post-traumatic symptoms
  • Bereavement and loss
  • Gender identity issues
  • Autistic Spectrum Disorders
  • ADHD

At Worcester Therapy Group we are keen to make sure the child has a positive experience of therapy and therefore our therapists go to great lengths to ensure they feel comfortable enough to open up and share their problems. Children rarely express their thoughts and feelings in a manner that adults grasp easily so they will be facilitated to express themselves through play-based activities or through drawing and paint. Our service is private and confidential and is designed around the particular needs of the child, at times in the day or at a schedule that suits them, so that they can feel totally in control throughout. A typical session will last up to 50 minutes but can be adjusted to suit the child.
